Course Objectives

WSQ Handle Security Incidents and Services

On completion of this module, trainee will gain knowledge and application skills in handling security incidents and services confidently and be able to apply them in the workplace.

WSQ Provide Guard and Patrol Services

On completion of this module, trainee will gain knowledge and application skills in providing guard and patrol services confidently and be able to apply them in the workplace

Who Should Attend

This is a compulsory security training course for anyone who wants to start a career as a Security Officer.

Pre-requisites

Minimum secondary 2 education

OR

Participants with the following competency ratings from the Employability Skills are eligible:

  • Listening/Speaking Min. Level 4
  • Reading/Writing Min. Level 4
  • Numeracy Min. Level 4

OR

Participants may also be required to undergo a pre-qualifying test during registration.

Course Duration

40 Hours (Excluding Assessment)

Course Outline

  1. Provide guard and patrol services
    • Preparing work activities
    • Guarding static positions
    • Handling telephone calls and lost-and-found properties
    • Patrolling premises
    • Making reports and hand-over duties
  2. Handle security incidents and services
    • Containing incidents of damage to facilities and equipment
    • Handling fire-related incidents
    • Handling crime-related incidents
    • Handling medical or first-aid related incidents
    • Handle bomb or IED (Improvised Explosive Device) threat incident
    • Searching, apprehending and arresting suspect
    • Giving evidence in court

Medium of Instruction  & Trainer : Trainee Ratio

  • Theory (30%) – Knowledge, Comprehension & Discussion
  • Practical (60%) – Role-play, demonstration & case study
  • Revision (10%)

Trainer : Trainee Ratio – 1:20

Mode of Assessment

An assessment (a total of 4 hours 30 minutes for 2 modules) will be conducted at the end of the each module by POLWEL.

Certification Obtained and Conferred by

  • Statement of Attainment (SOA) from SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG)
  • Certificate of Attendance from NTUC LearningHub®
