Registration for November 2017 REA examination will commence on 31 July 2017 and close on 10 November 2017.

Mar 2017 REA Exam Results Released on 02 May 2017

Candidates who have passed all papers in Mar 2017, may collect their certificates at our Bras Basah branch from 5th May 2017, 1pm onwards.

Please be advised to avoid peak periods like Saturdays and between 12nn to 2pm or 5pm to 6pm on Mondays to Fridays.

OVERVIEW

Under the new regulatory framework, persons who intend to assume the role of the Key Executive Officer (KEO) or Practising Director or Practising Partner of an estate agent are required to possess a pass in the Real Estate Agency (REA).

PRE-REQUISITES

As it is a requirement by CEA for the exam administrator to verify that all candidates meet the required pre-requisites, all candidates (new and re-takers) MUST bring along the required documents (original REA course completion certificate, original highest qualification certificate, CEA qualification assessment approval email notification (applicable for private / overseas qualifications only) and identification documents like NRIC &/or passport) to any of our 3 customer service counters for verification before making payment.

Minimum requirements to take the REA examination are:

  • Must have successfully completed the new REA course
  • Must have 4 GCE “O” Levels; taken at not more than two sitting and the passes must be for different subjects; or
  • Higher NITEC; or
  • WSQ Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (Speaking, writing, listening, Reading and Numeracy) = Level 5;

OR

  • Candidate who wish to submit their qualifications (e.g. overseas qualifications, private diplomas etc.) for assessment by CEA to determine if they meet the minimum educational qualification requirement may do so through the Approved Course Provider (ACP) they intend to enrol for the RES course. An administrative fee of $53.50 (inclusive of GST) is payable for each application submitted.Candidates must complete the CEA Qualification Assessment Request Form and attach all supporting documents, and they must also produce the original documents to ACP for verification. CEA will inform the candidate of the outcome of the assessment.
  • Qualifications assessed to be accepted in lieu of 4 GCE “O” Level passes, for the purpose of RES/REA course registration, RES/REA examination registration and registration to be a salesperson or KEO/practicing director, are valid for a period of 3 years from the date of CEA’s notification of the acceptance. A fresh application has to be re-submitted to CEA for qualification assessment once the 3-year period lapses.

Documents Required during Registration and Payment are:

  • REA course completion certificate,
  • Highest qualification certificate,
  • CEA qualification assessment approval email notification printout (applicable for overseas qualification only)
  • Identification documents like NRIC &/or passport

AND

  • Previous examination results (applicable for re-takers only)

EXAMINATION FORMAT

  • 3 papers (2.5 hours per paper) with 8 essay questions each
  • Candidates to answer any 5 out of the 8 questions for each paper
  • Candidates must pass all 3 papers
  • Modular re-sitting is only applicable for candidates who have passed at least one REA examination paper.
  • Candidates who fail all three papers must retake all three papers in a single sitting as a fresh candidate; i.e. need to take Paper 1, 2, and 3 in a single sitting in their next attempt.
  • Candidates with more than one failed paper are to re-take their failed papers in the same examination during their next attempt.
  • Upon passing the remaining paper(s), the candidate will be considered as having passed the REA examination and will be subsequently issued an REA examination certificate.
  • The candidate must apply for registration with CEA with the support of a licensed estate agent within 2 years of the date of issue of the final results, otherwise, the results will be invalid for licensing and registration purposes.
  • There shall be no retrospective consideration of results for the REA examinations taken before July 2015.
All REA candidates must pass the REA examination within 2 years from the date of issuance of the REA Course Completion certificate. Candidates who are unable to pass all 3 papers of the REA examination within the 2-year timeframe will have to re-take the full REA course before attempting the full REA examination. Partial passes in the REA examination will become invalid once the REA course certificate expires.

RESULTS AND CERTIFICATE

The REA examination results are released 4 – 6 weeks after the examination is held. The process may be extended due to other relating factors such as the number of candidates taking the examination. A certificate will be issued to successful candidate. No replacement certificates will be re-printed for lost certificates, only a letter of confirmation of qualification attained will be issued upon formal request made by the candidate.

*Registration for the next scheduled REA examination will only start after previous scheduled examination is completed.
