Course Overview

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify noise hazards, evaluate noise risk and institute corrective measures
  • Conduct monitoring, record measurements, interpret results and develop plans to reduce noise exposures below the permissible limits

Course Duration

18 hours, include 2 hours of assessment

Course Outline

  • Introduction to basic acoustics
  • Effects of noise on hearing
  • Legal requirements of Factories (Noise) regulations
  • Strategy and methodology for noise surveys
  • Basic noise control measures including the selection of hearing protectors
  • Practical noise monitoring

Pre-requisites

Applicants must have at least 3 GCE 'O' Level passes in English, Mathematics and Science (Physics)
or
(i) ESS WPLN 5 OR ‘N’ Level English Grade 5 & ‘N’ Level Maths Grade 5
AND
(ii) WSH Skills & Knowledge equivalent to Certificate in WSH OR 3 years of relevant working experience in operations and safety related work such as noise measurement recording, etc.
