Eldercare Courses

With the increase in demand for healthcare and social services, NTUC LearningHub (LHUB) rolled out a series of new eldercare courses to equip learners with the necessary skills and knowledge to help meet these challenges for seniors. We met up with two of our learners, Ms Jasmine Low and Mr Lim Yik Ann who shared their learning journeys with us.

“I want to equip myself with caregiving skills, so that I can take care of my in-laws. The “WSQ Assist Clients To Meet Basic Hygiene Needs” course is very interesting and it gives me a better understanding on how to take care of elderly. Our trainer, Ms Susan was also very patient and imparted a lot of useful and relevant knowledge to us,” Ms Jasmine Low shared. Currently a retiree, she is also taking up other courses such as Basic English and IT to upgrade herself. “I hope that upgrading and reskilling will help to open up more career opportunities for me in future,” added Jasmine.

Mr Lim Yik Ann had always wanted to take up eldercare courses but didn’t manage to find suitable ones. He chanced upon LHUB’s “WSQ Assist Clients To Meet Basic Hygiene Needs” and the series of eldercare courses at one of the road shows. “My elderly parents are getting older; hence I joined the caregiver course to learn how to take care of them. The course was very insightful, and I learned a lot of related and valuable techniques. I had a better understand on helping the patient on and off the bed and wheelchair. I hope that I would be able to apply what I learned in volunteering work, and help the needy in future,” said Yik Ann.
