What does Applied VR and Game Specialist do?

 

Applied VR and Game Specialist works closely with various stakeholders to research and integrate Virtual Reality (VR) experiences in new or existing products. This includes designing, analysing, developing, and debugging applications using VR.

  • Plan, Integrate and Implement VR solutions in new or existing products
  • Design, analyse, develop and debug VR applications
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to optimize the game design workflow
  • Work closely with game development team and product manager to deliver the product according to market needs
  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of the equipment

What are the skills required for this role?

The Hard Skills – Applied VR and Gamification

  • Knowledge of 3D computer graphics, game programming or multimedia computing
  • Virtual/Augmented Reality and HMD
  • Software requirement: C#, C programming and java
  • Practical, methodical, and analytical troubleshooting skills

The Soft Skills – working with People

  • Good Leadership skills, such as the ability to motivate a team and provide feedback
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to relate well with people at all levels and good service orientation

Programme Pre-requisites

  • Singapore Citizens and PRs aged 21 and above, who are currently unemployed but are looking for career conversion​
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience​
  • Committed to complete the programme​

Educational and Other Requirement

  • Must be highly motivated
  • Must be eager for long term engagement and pursuit in the Immersive Media sector  
  • Eager and willing to learn, must be able to promptly and complete all assignments and recommended activities.  
  • Minimum qualification O levels, 
  • Must be comfortable in conversational English and have the ability to do creative writing.   
  • Comfortable & familiar with working on PC, Proficient with MS Office Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, 
  • Comfortable using online search engines and be able to look up and follow tutorials and walkthroughs 
  • Comfortable & Proficient with online communication on forums, social media, IM, and email.
  • Familiar with popular culture especially movies, video and mobile games, and comic books

Trainees need to have a laptop with these recommended system requirements:

  • Windows 10,
  • Intel core i5 or higher,
  • Dedicated ATi or Nvidia Graphics chipset GPU card with 2GB RAM,
  • 16 GB onboard system RAM,
  • At least 50 GB free space on HDD,
  • Video Conferencing capable system with Webcam, Mic, Speakers,
  • Stable and regular internet connection.

Selection Criteria

  • Interested participants should apply for the programme via our website.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be called for a 15 minutes face-face or virtual interview. For selected technical roles participants may also be required take aptitude test.

At the end of each phase, learners will go through projects where they can apply the knowledge and skills acquired in the courses.

Learning Objectives

There is an increased interest in gamification and Virtual Reality due to reasons like COVID-19 lockdown measures. Corporates, Schools and institutions are also turning to gamification and VR applications to supplement their e-learning strategies to engage their learners. This programme enables learners to acquire knowledge and skills in emerging areas such as Gamification and Virtual Reality.
