Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to understand the importance of the Environmental Sanitation Regime, the roles and responsibilities of Premises Managers and Environmental Control Coordinators (ECCs), an understanding on pest management, cleaning and disinfection, and indoor air quality to enable you to develop and monitor the implementation of an Environmental Sanitation Programme as an Environmental Control Coordinator. You will be equipped with the pertinent knowledge and skills to perform your roles and achieving the ECC certificate of registration, should they meet the ECC certificate of registration requirements.

Pre-requisites

  • WPL – Level 5 for reading, speaking, listening and writing
  • Able to use basic functions of a computer
  • Gain interest in learning new knowledge and a willingness to learn a new skill

    This course will be conducted as a Virtual Live Class (VLC) via Zoom platform. Participants must own a zoom account and have a laptop or a desktop with “Zoom Client for Meetings” installed. This can be downloaded from https://zoom.us/download

  • Operating system: Windows 10 or MacOS (64 bit or above)
  • Processor/CPU: 1.8 GHz, 2-core Intel Core i3 or higher
  • Minimum 20 GB hard disk space.
  • Minimum 8 Gb RAM
  • Webcam (The camera must be turned on for the duration of the class)

  • Internet Connection: Wired or Wireless broadband
  • Latest version of Zoom software to be installed on computer or laptop prior to the class.

Good to Have:

    Wired internet will provide you with stable and reliable connection.

  • Dual monitors
    Using a dual monitor setup will undoubtedly improve your training experience, enabling you to simultaneously participate in hands-on exercises and maintain engagement with your instructor.

Not Recommended:

Using tablets is not recommended due to their smaller screen size, which could cause eye strain and discomfort over the course of the program's duration.

Course Outline

Interpret the Environmental Public Health Act (EPHA) in relation to Environmental Sanitation (ES) regime

  • Understand the objectives and significance of the Environmental Sanitation (ES) regime
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of Environmental Control Coordinators (ECCs)
  • Incorporate knowledge on industry best practices on Indoor Quality Air management system into the ES regime
  • Overview of infectious diseases, infection prevention and control
  • Acquire in-depth knowledge in General Cleaning and Disinfection
  • Define an effective Pest Control Management system
  • Develop and implement the ES regime at premises

Certificate Obtained and Conferred by

  • Certificate of Participation (Electronic Certificate) from NTUC LearningHub
    • A Certificate of Participation will be awarded to participants who meet at least 75% attendance rate
  • Certificate of Completion (Electronic Certificate) from NTUC LearningHub
    • A Certificate of Completion will be awarded to participants who pass the assessment and meet at least 75% attendance rate

Important Note: Attending and passing the ECC course will not automatically lead to a successful registration as an ECC with the National Environment Agency.

  • Should your premises fall under the specified premises mandated for the Environmental Sanitation Regime, you will be receiving or would have received a notification letter from your Sectoral Lead and/or NEA.

  • From 1 October 2023, attendance-taking for SkillsFuture Singapore's (SSG) funded courses must be done digitally via the Singpass App. This applies to both physical and synchronous e-learning courses

  • Trainee must achieve at least 75% attendance
  • Trainee must pass all prescribed tests / assessments, and attain 100% competency
  • NTUC LearningHub reserves the right to claw back the funded amount from trainee if he/she did not meet the eligibility criteria.
  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
