Course Objectives

This course equips the security personnel with knowledge and skills to function in a supervisory role. Participant will learn to supervise junior security officers and be able to apply them in their workplace.

Pre-requisites

  • Participant with the following competency ratings from the Employability Skills is eligible:
    • Listening/Speaking Min. Level 6
    • Reading/Writing  Min. Level 6
    • Numeracy   Min. Level 5

Course Outline

Study security operations procedures

  • Retrieve and study security operations procedures
  • Record relevant information for site inspection
  • List details of security operations procedures and formulate site inspection checklist
  • Ensure safety, security and confidentiality for all information

Supervise direction of security officers

  • Schedule security officer duties effectively
  • Allocate security officer duties and responsibilities in a fair and equitable manner
  • Conduct briefing/roll call clearly and accurately before commencement of work
  • Take appropriate actions when encountering problems in supervision of security officers

Supervise control of security officers

  • Use appropriate interpersonal skills to address problem
  • Take immediate/appropriate action to handle situation when security officers encounter problems/difficulties in carrying out duties
  • Maintain discipline of security officers and take appropriate action when necessary
  • Conduct coaching and counseling to assist them in meeting performance standard
  • Monitor security officers to ensure that required level of security service is maintained to meet clients needs

Supervise emergency situations

  • Brief security officers on organisational procedures to be adopted during emergencies
  • Check security duties to ensure they are performed in accordance
  • Review emergency site plan regularly
  • Take immediate action (on being informed of an emergency) to handle situation

Certificate Obtained and Conferred by

Statement of Attainment (SOA) from SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) will be issued for each module graded competent. SOA reflected as

SEC-SOP-3007-1.1 Guard and Patrol.

Upon meeting at least 75% attendance and passing the assessment(s), participants will receive a Certificate of Completion from NTUC LearningHub.

Funding Eligibility Criteria:

  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • From 1 October 2023, attendance-taking for SkillsFuture Singapore's (SSG) funded courses must be done digitally via the Singpass App. This applies to both physical and synchronous e-learning courses

  • Trainee must pass all prescribed tests / assessments, and attain 100% competency
  • NTUC LearningHub reserves the right to claw back the funded amount from trainee if he/she did not meet the eligibility criteria
  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents

SkillsFuture Credit: 

  • Eligible Singapore Citizens can use their SkillsFuture Credit to offset course fee payable after funding.

UTAP: 

  • This course is eligible for Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP).
  • NTUC members can enjoy up to 50% funding (capped at $250 per year) under UTAP.
