The target audience of this competency unit may include:

  • Persons who want to attain the qualification recognised by the Singapore Ministry of Manpower to advise occupiers and employers on noise and vibration monitoring at the workplaces
  • Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) professionals such as WSH Coordinators, Officers, and Auditors
  • Occupational Hygiene (OH) professionals such as OH Technicians
  • Occupational health professionals such as occupational health nurse and physicians
  • Other professionals in OH-related fields such as ergonomics, human factors, occupational psychology, noise monitoring and control, acoustics, as well as engineering and facility management specialists who would like to gain more knowledge on noise monitoring at the workplace

Course Overview

This unit covers the basic principles of noise and vibration monitoring. It also provides fundamental knowledge and skills in noise and vibration monitoring and covers the typical noise monitoring and assessment of monitoring results.

Course Entry Requirements:

1. Literacy and Numeracy

  • WSQ Employability Skills Workplace Literacy and Numeracy Level 6; or
  • Grade C6 in GCE O Level for English and Mathematics

2. Science

  • Grade C6 in GCE O Level Science (Physics)

Course Outline

  • Establish the objectives for noise and vibration monitoring
  • Identify noise and vibration hazard sources and the ill health effects from relevant information sources
  • Conduct noise monitoring to evaluate noise and vibration exposure levels
  • Interpret and analyse the noise monitoring results
  • Support the implementation of hearing conservation programmes

A Statement of Attainment (SOA) will be awarded upon completion of each unit.

Funding Eligibility Criteria:

Individual Sponsored Trainee

Company Sponsored Trainee

  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • From 1 October 2023, attendance-taking for SkillsFuture Singapore's (SSG) funded courses must be done digitally via the Singpass App. This applies to both physical and synchronous e-learning courses

  • Trainee must achieve at least 75% attendance
  • Trainee must pass all prescribed tests / assessments, and attain 100% competency
  • NTUC LearningHub reserves the right to claw back the funded amount from trainee if he/she did not meet the eligibility criteria
  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents

  • Eligible Singapore Citizens can use their SkillsFuture Credit to offset course fee payable after funding.

UTAP: 

  • This course is eligible for Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP).
  • NTUC members can enjoy up to 50% funding (capped at $250 per year) under UTAP.
