Cyber Security Courses to Boost Your Career

31 Dec 2018 Posted in ⟨For Learners⟩

Just when we thought that the internet was safe, Malaysia’s recent data breach of more than 46 million mobile number subscribers along with the WannaCry and Petya ransomware infections have sent out a much needed wake-up call: it’s time to take cyber security seriously.

Singapore isn’t immune to this and the stats released by the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore and market research firm, Dimensional Research, prove it.

The increase in proportion of cybercrime cases between 2014 and 2016
The proportion of IT security professionals saying employees in their firms have sought unauthorised information
The demand for cybersecurity professionals in Singapore by 2021

There is a bright side to all of this though. According to 55-year-old VP and General Manager (Southeast Asia) of Palo Alto Networks, Mr Wahab Yusoff, “age is no barrier in this field,” and Associate Professor Peter Loh of the Singapore Institute of Technology, advocates the importance of cybersecurity training programmes.

Consequently, if you are a meticulous and business-minded IT professional, upskilling in cybersecurity can open up a whole new avenue for career advancement. Check out our list of courses below to start making inroads in this rapidly growing and rewarding industry.
