Featured Trainer – Ms Lien Lee Hong

31 Dec 2018 Posted in ⟨Stories⟩

Ms Lien Lee Hong has been with NTUC LearningHub (LHUB) for close to 20 years. She is currently our trainer for the Basic Information Technology courses, where she conducts classes on Microsoft Office skills.

WELL-LIKED BY HER STUDENTS

Lee Hong is a well-liked trainer in LHUB. “The learners in LHUB are different as they are working adults from different walks of lives. I had to conduct computer classes in Mandarin when I just joined, and this was very different from what I had done in the past,” said Lee Hong. Despite the language difficulties, she was happy to be able to help the learners gain additional skills from the course. She is still in contact with some of her learners and would offer help or recommendations on courses for them to upgrade their skills.

There are times where learners could not catch up with what was taught in class. Lee Hong took the initiative to coach them during her breaks so that they can understand the concepts and apply them in their day-to-day work.

“Ms Lien is always warm and encouraging. She was able to relate the concepts using real life examples. The info she provided was easy for us to understand. She is like a friend to us, and always sharing with us the courses which we could possibly take to improve on our skills,” one of her learners, Ms Caroline Moh shared.

Another learner, Ms Stella Tan also added, “She is indeed a patient trainer. Most of my classmates are senior learners like us and she took the effort to match our learning speed, explained the concepts and completed the topics within the time frame. The course was delivered in a very systematic, fun and interesting way, and we benefited greatly from her course.”

Lee Hong also shared, “The attitude to learn is important and I’m happy to see my learners mastering new skills after the course. Doing the best for my learners gives me a sense of satisfaction and keeps me going.”
