Course Overview

Singapore aims to reduce peak land transport emission by 80% by or around mid-century. Under Singapore Green Plan 2030 and EV Roadmap, one of the key efforts is to upskill and certify professionals in EV Maintenance & Servicing.

 “National EV Specialist Safety (NESS) Certification” is established to upskill and recognise automotive technicians who have completed the stipulated courses and successfully attain the required competencies in the following areas:

  • Workplace Safety and Health for Electrical Safety
  • Electric Vehicle and/or Hybrid Electric Vehicle Charging Management
  • Electric Vehicle and Hybrid Electric Vehicle Maintenance Management
  • Electric Vehicle and Hybrid Electric Vehicle Battery Management

Course Objectives

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Ascertain the Fundamentals of Hybrid/ Electric Vehicles.
  • Identify the Types and Functions of Hybrid/ Electric Vehicles
  • Appraise the types of high voltage levels relevant to Hybrid/ Electric Vehicles.
  • Determine the types of equipment and tools used in Hybrid/ Electric Vehicles maintenance activities.
  • Compare the WSH legal and other requirements relevant to Electrical Installations.
  • Harness the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the electrical maintenance work.
  • Practice Safe Work Procedures to ensure the electrical safety.
  • Operate electrical Isolation procedures safely for all the energy sources before the maintenance activities.

  • Workplace Safety and Health Measures
  • Maintenance and Service management of electric vehicle (EV) and/or hybrid electric vehicle (HEV)
  • Documentation of maintenance activities

Upon meeting 75% attendance and passing the assessment(s), participants will receive the following Certificates:

  • WSQ Statements of Attainment (SOAs)
  • Workplace Safety and Health for Electrical Safety
  • Electric Vehicle and/or Hybrid Electric Vehicle Charging Management
  • Electric Vehicle and Hybrid Electric Vehicle Maintenance Management
  • Electric Vehicle and Hybrid Electric Vehicle Battery Management

  • National Electric Vehicle (EV) Specialist Safety (NESS) Certificates by LTA
  • Certificate of Completion by NTUC LearningHub & BYD

Funding Eligibility Criteria:

Individual Sponsored Trainee

Company Sponsored Trainee

  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • From 1 October 2023, attendance-taking for SkillsFuture Singapore's (SSG) funded courses must be done digitally via the Singpass App. This applies to both physical and synchronous e-learning courses

  • Trainee must achieve at least 75% attendance
  • Trainee must pass all prescribed tests / assessments, and attain 100% competency
  • NTUC LearningHub reserves the right to claw back the funded amount from trainee if he/she did not meet the eligibility criteria
  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents

SkillsFuture Credit:

  • Eligible Singapore Citizens can use their SkillsFuture Credit to offset course fee payable after funding

PSEA:

  • Eligible Singapore Citizens can use their Post-Secondary Education Account (PSEA) funds to offset course fee payable after funding

UTAP:

  • NTUC Members can enjoy up to 50% funding (capped at $250 per year) under Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP)

Absentee Payroll (AP) Funding:

  • $4.50 per hour, capped at $100,000 per enterprise per calendar year
  • AP funding will be computed based on the actual number of training hours attended by the trainee
  • Note: Courses / Modules under Professional Conversion Programme (PCP) will not be eligible for AP funding claim.
