Who Should Attend

Individuals who have successfully completed/reached ICDL basic skills levels and wish to further enhance their expertise in Advanced Word Processing.

Bring your Word Processing skills to an expert level and be more confident, efficient and effective in using Word.

This module sets out advanced skills that can be used to produce complex documents, enhance outputs, and improve productivity, when using a word processing application.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Apply advanced text, paragraph, column and table formatting. Maintain a consistent design through the use of character and paragraph styles
  • Working with referencing features like footnotes, endnotes and captions. Manage citations and bibliography using a chosen citation style. Create tables of contents, indexes and cross-references
  • Enhance productivity by using fields, forms and templates
  • Apply advanced mail merge techniques and work with automation features like macros
  • Use linking and embedding features to integrate data
  • Collaborate on and review documents locally or online. Apply document security features
  • Work with watermarks, sections, and headers and footers in a document. Use a thesaurus and manage spell check settings

Pre-requisites

(a) For F2F Classes, these are the admission requirements.

  • Be a proficient user of computer and computer software
  • Be able to Speak, Listen, Read and Write English at WPL Level 4 or equivalent
  • Be able to manipulate numbers at WPN Level 4 or equivalent
  • Have keen interest to acquire new knowledge and skill.

(b) For Virtual Learning Classes, these are the admission requirements.

^Trainings will be conducted on Zoom platform, thus webcam and microphone are compulsory

Applicants need to:

  • Have a Windows OS PC prior to class (Apple Mac OS is not applicable)
  • Downloaded Microsoft Word 2019 and above prior to class
  • Be a proficient user of computer and computer software
  • Be able to Speak, Listen, Read and Write English at WPL Level 4 or equivalent
  • Be able to manipulate numbers at WPN Level 4 or equivalent
  • Have keen interest to acquire new knowledge and skill

Funding Eligibility Criteria:

  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Trainee must achieve at least 75% attendance
  • Trainee must pass all prescribed tests / assessments, and attain 100% competency
  • NTUC LearningHub reserves the right to claw back the funded amount from trainee if he/she did not meet the eligibility criteria

SkillsFuture Credit:

  • Eligible Singapore Citizens can use their SkillsFuture Credit to offset course fee payable after funding

 

PSEA:

  • Eligible Singapore Citizens can use their Post-Secondary Education Account (PSEA) funds to offset course fee payable after funding

 

UTAP:

  • NTUC Members can enjoy up to 50% funding (capped at $250 per year) under Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP)

Absentee Payroll (AP) Funding:

  • $4.50 per hour, capped at $100,000 per enterprise per calendar year
  • AP funding will be computed based on the actual number of training hours attended by the trainee
  • Note: Courses / Modules under Professional Conversion Programme (PCP) will not be eligible for AP funding claim.
