This course has been specifically designed for learners in executive or supervisory roles. The course content and examples are generic and is suitable for learners from any sector.

Course Overview

A work team is a group of individuals that are tasked to achieve predetermined goals by combining their strengths in carrying out their roles and solving problems. Effective communication is key in enabling the team to work cohesively and successfully. Effective teams develop norms that strengthen their identity, sense of belonging and work culture.
This course covers the 4 stages of team building – Forming, Storming, Norming and Performing and how through these 4 stages, team members foster even stronger relationships and working collaboratively to achieve their goals and objectives.

Course Objectives

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Define and align team goals with department and organisational goals.
  • Define own and individual roles within the team and work effectively within the team and organisation dynamics.
  • Create and maintain open communication with team members in the process of achieving individual and team goals.
  • Identify potential areas of conflict and recommend methods to overcome them.
  • Identify and resolve work issues through collaborative activities.
  • Provide feedback, advice and assistance in a considerate and constructive manner to accomplish task assigned.
  • Improve team efficiency in alignment with individual, team and organisational goals.

Pre-requisites

The admission requirements are:

  • No prior experience or knowledge required
  • Min 18 years old
  • Primary school level onwards
  • Be able to speak, listen, read and write English at a proficiency level not lower than the Employability Skills Workforce Skills Qualification (ES WSQ) Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 4

Course Outline

LU 1: Collaborative Communication for Team Success (Forming)

  • Define and align team goals with department and organisational goals
  • Define own and individual roles within the team and work within the team and organisation dynamics

LU 2: Leading and Contributing to Team Communication Dynamics (Storming)

  • Maintain open communication with team members with ability to achieve individual and team goals

LU 3: Effective Communication and Plan Implementation (Norming)

  • Identify potential areas of conflict with team members and methods to overcome them
  • Identify and resolve issues and concerns through collaborative activities

LU 4: Evaluating and Improving Team Performance and Solutions (Performing)

  • Provide feedback, advice and assistance in a considerate and constructive manner to accomplish task assigned
  • Improve team efficiency in alignment with individual, team and organisational goals

Certificate Obtained and Conferred by

Upon meeting the attendance and assessment(s) criteria, participants will be awarded with a digital Statement of Attainment (SOA), accredited by SkillsFuture Singapore. SOA will be reflected as [code name i.e., FSS-PDV-3002-1.1 Effectiveness Management L3].

Funding Eligibility Criteria:

Company Sponsored Trainee

  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • From 1 October 2023, attendance-taking for SkillsFuture Singapore's (SSG) funded courses must be done digitally via the Singpass App. This applies to both physical and synchronous e-learning courses.
  • Trainee must achieve at least 75% attendance.
  • Trainee must pass all prescribed tests / assessments and attain 100% competency.
  • NTUC LearningHub reserves the right to claw back the funded amount from trainee if he/she did not meet the eligibility criteria.
  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents

SkillsFuture Credit: 

  • Eligible Singapore Citizens can use their SkillsFuture Credit to offset course fee payable after funding.

UTAP: 

  • This course is eligible for Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP).
  • NTUC members can enjoy up to 50% funding (capped at $250 per year) under UTAP.
