Course Overview

This course focuses on 2 areas: 1) You as an Individual and 2) Emotional Intelligence at the workplace.

You as an Individual: This course provides you with a deep application and understanding of Three (3) Emotional Intelligence Competencies: Emotional Reasoning, Self-Management and Positive Influence.

The session explores various ways to shift fixed mindsets to a growth/ open mindset utilising metacognition looking at intellectual humility and its applications. Learners will look at how emotions distort a rational approach to decision-making. How do you recognise it and how do you deal with emotions at work?

Self-management is central to forming well-being strategies and we will explore how to create new habits in 6 short steps that are practical and easy to adopt.

Emotional Intelligence at the workplace
This session will explore the different dimensions towards emotional self-management and balance with organisation expectations. Questions that will be answered is what is it and how can I apply it?

As individuals at the workplace, we work with different colleagues across multiple functions and being a positive influence is critical. Master the art of influence with the right techniques utilising key lessons learnt throughout the day. You will be building rapport and becoming an active listener through the various experiential activities lined up.

Becoming a Certified Emotional Intelligence Practitioner? This is Module 2 of 3 courses to be a Certified Genos Emotional Intelligence Practitioner. Current ICF coaches who complete the 3 modules will receive 10 CCEU/ CCE core competencies and 4 resource development hours towards your ICF membership renewal.

Course Objectives

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Master the art of Positive influence with the right tools
  • Determine the scope of Emotional Intelligence that influences the decision-making process
  • Utilise Emotional Intelligence to align with organisational performance expectations
  • Demonstrate how emotional intelligence can create a positive working environment

Pre-requisites

The admission requirements are:

  • Read, write, and speak English at WPL Level 8
  • Completed Module 1: Emotional Intelligence Essentials
  • Hardware & Software (if applicable)
    • This course will be conducted as a Virtual Live Class (VLC) via Zoom platform.
    • Participants must own a Zoom account and have a laptop or a desktop with “Zoom Client for Meetings” installed. Download from zoom.us/download.

Please ensure that your computer or laptop meets the following requirements. 

  • Operating system: Windows 10 or MacOS (64 bit or above) 
  • Processor/CPU: 1.8 GHz, 2-core Intel Core i3 or higher 
  • Minimum 20 GB hard disk space 
  • Minimum 8 GB RAM 
  • Webcam (camera must be turned on for the duration of the class) 
  • Microphone 
  • Internet Connection: Wired or Wireless broadband 
  • Latest version of Zoom software to be installed on computer or laptop prior to the class. 

Good-to-have: 

  • Wired internet connection
    Wired internet will provide you with stable and reliable connection. 
  • Dual monitors
    Using a dual monitor setup will undoubtedly improve your training experience, enabling you to simultaneously participate in hands-on exercises and maintain engagement with your instructor. 

Not recommended:
Using tablets are not recommended due to their smaller screen size, which could cause eye strain and discomfort over the course of the programme's duration. 

Course Outline

Learning Unit 1: Emotional Reasoning

  • What is Emotional Reasoning and why is it important?
  • Ways to surface emotional information.
  • Identifying individual values and purpose.
  • How do you shift a fixed mindset to a growth/ open mindset? Utilise metacognition.
  • Explore Intellectual humility and its application.

Learning Unit 2: Emotional Intelligence and Decision-Making

  • How to make good decisions and listen to your intuition. (Gut)
  • Hone your self-awareness and ask for feedback.
  • Emotional reasoning and workplace effectiveness.
  • How do you deal with emotions at work?
  • What is the relationship between emotions and employee engagement?

Learning Unit 3: Self-Management

  • Self-management and well-being strategies.
  • Recognise and enhance your well-being with habits and routines.
  • Learn how to build new habits in 6 steps.

Learning Unit 4: Emotional Self-Management techniques and insights for workplace effectiveness

  • Explore the different dimensions of self-management @ Workplace.
  • Adaptability, self-motivation, time management, stress management, decision-making, goal alignment, personal development.
  • Organisation expectations in the workplace.
  • Managing expectations at the workplace.
  • Establishing healthy relationships and maintaining mental health and more.
  • How do you manage expectations at work?

Learning Unit 5: Positive Influence

  • What is positive influence and social integration?
  • Utilise tools to help you get it right, combined with curiosity and being intentional.
  • Master the art of influence with the right techniques.
  • Build rapport with people and become an active listener.

Learning Unit 6: Industry best practices for organisation effectiveness

  • How do you maximise effectiveness in the organisation?
  • How does this work through with Emotional Intelligence?

Certificate Obtained and Conferred by

  • Upon meeting the attendance and assessment(s) criteria, participants will be awarded with a digital Statement of Attainment (SOA), accredited by SkillsFuture Singapore. SOA will be reflected as Talent Capability Assessment HRS-PDV-5034-1.1.
  • Upon meeting the attendance and assessment(s) criteria, participants will be awarded with a digital Certificate of Completion from NTUC LearningHub.
  • Complete 3 Modules (EI Essentials, Developing EI and Certified EI Practitioner) and be a Certified Emotional Intelligence Practitioner from Genos International.

  • From 1 October 2023, attendance-taking for SkillsFuture Singapore's (SSG) funded courses must be done digitally via the Singpass App. This applies to both physical and synchronous e-learning courses.
  • Trainee must achieve at least 75% attendance.
  • Trainee must pass all prescribed tests / assessments and attain 100% competency.
  • NTUC LearningHub reserves the right to claw back the funded amount from trainee if he/she did not meet the eligibility criteria.
