Course Overview

Learners must complete an Emotional Intelligence 360 survey prior to the start of the course. An individual report will be generated for your use during the course.

This course focuses on 2 areas: 1) You as an Individual and 2) How are you able to deploy Emotional intelligence in organisations.

You as an Individual: This course provides you with a deep application and understanding of Three (3) Emotional Intelligence Competencies: Self-Awareness, Awareness of Others and Authenticity. Learn how to be a better you and how you may encourage others to apply them. How can you demonstrate authenticity? How can you be an authentic leader?

Develop mindfulness techniques during the program for intentional conversations. How do you have a difficult conversation with colleagues and what tools and techniques can you turn to? This course helps you break down various options with the CARE principle; Clarity, Autonomy, Relationship, and Equity to manage conversations.

Deploying Emotional Intelligence in organisations
Learners will look at various emotional intelligence frameworks supporting the HR function of talent development and learning & development. Key fundamental questions on how to close talent gaps will be explored. How do individuals benefit from knowing and applying emotional intelligence within the organisation? Importantly, how leaders can benefit with emotional intelligence.

Thinking of being a Certified Emotional Intelligence Practitioner? This is Module 1 of 3 courses to be a Certified Genos Emotional Intelligence Practitioner. Current ICF coaches who complete the 3 modules will receive 10 CCEU/ CCE core competencies and 4 resource development hours towards your ICF membership renewal.

Course Objectives

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Evaluate an Emotional Intelligence Framework that supports talent development
  • Utilise an EI tool to close talent development gaps
  • Recommend EI Competencies for success in the organisation
  • Gain a deeper understanding and apply Three (3) Emotional Intelligence areas: Self-awareness, Awareness of Others and Authenticity
  • Apply CARE Principles for difficult conversations

Pre-requisites

The admission requirements are:

  • Read, write, and speak English at WPL Level 8
  • Hardware & Software (if applicable)
    • This course will be conducted as a Virtual Live Class (VLC) via Zoom platform.
    • Participants must own a Zoom account and have a laptop or a desktop with “Zoom Client for Meetings” installed. Download from zoom.us/download.

Please ensure that your computer or laptop meets the following requirements. 

  • Operating system: Windows 10 or MacOS (64 bit or above) 
  • Processor/CPU: 1.8 GHz, 2-core Intel Core i3 or higher 
  • Minimum 20 GB hard disk space 
  • Minimum 8 GB RAM 
  • Webcam (camera must be turned on for the duration of the class) 
  • Microphone 
  • Internet Connection: Wired or Wireless broadband 
  • Latest version of Zoom software to be installed on computer or laptop prior to the class.

    Wired internet will provide you with stable and reliable connection. 
  • Dual monitors
    Using a dual monitor setup will undoubtedly improve your training experience, enabling you to simultaneously participate in hands-on exercises and maintain engagement with your instructor. 

Not recommended:
Using tablets are not recommended due to their smaller screen size, which could cause eye strain and discomfort over the course of the programme's duration. 

Course Outline

Pre-work required:

  • Learners must complete a 360 emotional intelligence survey before the start of the class. The report will be used in the process of uncovering your emotional intelligence.

Learning Unit 1: Introduction to Emotional Intelligence

  • Emotional Intelligence as a game changer for business and life changer for individuals
  • Self-awareness – Understand self
  • Science of emotions and self-enhancement
  • What triggers you and how do you respond?

Learning Unit 2: Introduction to EI Tool (s)

  • Who are the different providers of EI tools
  • Introduction to Genos International Emotional Intelligence Assessments.
  • What is the link between EI tools and talent management?
  • Explore the various talent capability assessment frameworks and how it is relevant in today's multi-generational workplace.
  • 360-degree feedback, Strength-based, Competency-based, Behavioural Event, Leadership frameworks, Career Development.

Learning Unit 3: Employee Engagement

  • What is self-awareness and what techniques are there to regulate yourself?
  • Being Emotionally Mindful & Intentional in your communication
  • Explore the realm of mindful listening.
  • How best to use DiSC model
  • Connect and Communicate

Learning Unit 4: Awareness of others and YOU as the leader

  • How best to develop awareness in others?
  • What is the role of Empathy for a leader?
  • Implement Values to foster awareness of others
  • What are considered high potentials in your organisation?

Learning Unit 5: Authenticity

  • What is authenticity for the individual and team?
  • Express yourself in an authentic manner
  • Planning for Authentic conversations

Learning Unit 6: CARE Principles

  • Utilise CARE (Clarity, Autonomy, Relationship, Equity) to drive your authentic conversations
  • Managing difficult conversations using the CARE principles
  • Review of your 360 survey results
  • How do you apply EI tools in organisations for talent development?

Certificate Obtained and Conferred by

  • Upon meeting the attendance and assessment(s) criteria, participants will be awarded with a digital Statement of Attainment (SOA), accredited by SkillsFuture Singapore. SOA will be reflected as Operational Excellence HRS-BIN-5093-1.1.
  • Upon meeting the attendance and assessment(s) criteria, participants will be awarded with a digital Certificate of Completion from NTUC LearningHub.
  • Complete 3 Modules (EI Essentials, Developing EI and Certified EI Practitioner) and be a Certified Emotional Intelligence Practitioner from Genos International.

  • From 1 October 2023, attendance-taking for SkillsFuture Singapore's (SSG) funded courses must be done digitally via the Singpass App. This applies to both physical and synchronous e-learning courses.
  • Trainee must achieve at least 75% attendance.
  • Trainee must pass all prescribed tests / assessments and attain 100% competency.
  • NTUC LearningHub reserves the right to claw back the funded amount from trainee if he/she did not meet the eligibility criteria.
