Course Overview

This one-day course covers general cloud computing concepts, as well as general cloud computing models and services, such as Private, Public and Hybrid cloud, and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). It will also cover some core Azure services and solutions, key Azure pillar services concerning privacy, security, trust, compliance and finally cover pricing and support services available with Azure.

This course is primarily lectures and demonstrations. This course will also help prepare participants for the AZ-900 exam*, which is aligned to Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals certification.

*Please note that LHub will not be issuing any exam voucher for this certification.

Pre-requisites

We recommend that attendees of this course have the following prerequisites:

  • There are no prerequisites for taking this course.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing is helpful but isn't necessary.
  • Hardware & Software
    • This course will be conducted as a Virtual Live Class (VLC) via Zoom platform.
    • Participants must own a Zoom account and have a laptop or a desktop with “Zoom Client for Meetings” installed. Download from zoom.us/download.

Must-have:
Please ensure that your computer or laptop meets the following requirements.

  • Operating system: Windows 10 or MacOS (64 bit or above) 
  • Processor/CPU: 1.8 GHz, 2-core Intel Core i3 or higher 
  • Minimum 20 GB hard disk space 
  • Minimum 8 GB RAM 
  • Webcam (camera must be turned on for the duration of the class) 
  • Microphone 
  • Internet Connection: Wired or Wireless broadband 
  • Latest version of Zoom software to be installed on computer or laptop prior to the class. 

Good-to-have:

  • Wired internet connection
    Wired internet will provide you with stable and reliable connection.
  • Dual monitors
    Using a dual monitor setup will undoubtedly improve your training experience, enabling you to simultaneously participate in hands-on exercises and maintain engagement with your instructor. 

Not recommended:
Using tablets are not recommended due to their smaller screen size, which could cause eye strain and discomfort over the course of the program's duration.

Module 3 – Security, Privacy, Compliance and Trust

  • Understand and describe how to secure network connectivity in Microsoft Azure
  • Understand and describe core Azure identity services
  • Understand and describe security tools and features
  • Understand and describe Azure governance methodologies
  • Understand and describe monitoring and reporting in Azure
  • Understand and describe privacy, compliance, and data protection standards in Azure

Module 4 – Azure Pricing and Support

  • Understand and describe Microsoft Azure subscriptions and management groups
  • Recognize ways to plan and manage Azure costs
  • Identify Azure support options
  • Understand and describe features of Azure service-level agreements (SLAs)
  • Understand and describe the service lifecycle in Azure

Certificate Obtained and Conferred by

  • Upon meeting the attendance and assessment(s) criteria, participants will be awarded with a digital Statement of Attainment (SOA), accredited by SkillsFuture Singapore. SOA will be reflected as ICT-DES-3003-1.1 Infrastructure Design.
     
  • Upon meeting the attendance and assessment(s) criteria, participants will be awarded with a digital Certificate of Completion from NTUC LearningHub.
     
  • External Certification Exam
    The participant will be able to attempt Exam AZ-900: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals after attending this course. Upon passing the exam, the participant will receive Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals accreditation from Microsoft.

Microsoft Azure Fundamentals Exam Details

  • Level: Associate
  • Length: 60 Minutes per exam
  • Cost: 106 USD per exam (Approximately SGD 150 before GST per exam)
  • Format: Maximum of 40-60 questions per exam. Multiple choice questions (single and multiple response), drag and drops and performance-based
  • Passing Score: 700

  • You will be awarded by Microsoft with the following Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals accreditation digital badge(s) upon passing AZ-900: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals Exam

  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • From 1 October 2023, attendance-taking for SkillsFuture Singapore's (SSG) funded courses must be done digitally via the Singpass App. This applies to both physical and synchronous e-learning courses.
  • Trainee must achieve at least 75% attendance.
  • Trainee must pass all prescribed tests / assessments and attain 100% competency.
  • NTUC LearningHub reserves the right to claw back the funded amount from trainee if he/she did not meet the eligibility criteria.
  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
