Course Overview

This five-day course teaches you advanced skills for configuring and maintaining a highly available and scalable virtual infrastructure. Through a mix of lectures and hands-on labs, you configure and optimize the VMware vSphere 8 features that build a foundation for a truly scalable infrastructure. You also discuss when and where these features have the greatest effect. Attend this course to deepen your understanding of vSphere and learn how its advanced features and controls can benefit your organization.

Course Objectives

By the end of the course, you should be able to meet the following objectives:

Configure and manage a VMware Tools Repository
Configure vSphere Replication and recover replicated VMs
Manage VM resource usage with resource pools
Configure and manage vSphere networking and storage for a large and sophisticated enterprise
Configure VMware vCenter Server® High Availability

Pre-requisites

We recommend that attendees of this course have the following prerequisites:

Attend VMware vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage [V8]
Equivalent knowledge and administration experience with ESXi and vCenter.
Experience with working at the command line is highly recommended.
Hardware & Software
- This course will be conducted as a Virtual Live Class (VLC) via Zoom platform.
- Participants must own a Zoom account and have a laptop or a desktop with “Zoom Client for Meetings” installed. Download from zoom.us/download.

System Requirement

Must-have:
Please ensure that your computer or laptop meets the following requirements.

Operating system: Windows 10 or MacOS (64 bit or above)
Processor/CPU: 1.8 GHz, 2-core Intel Core i3 or higher
Minimum 20 GB hard disk space
Minimum 8 GB RAM
Webcam (camera must be turned on for the duration of the class)
Microphone
Internet Connection: Wired or Wireless broadband
Latest version of Zoom software to be installed on computer or laptop prior to the class.

Wired internet connection
Wired internet will provide you with stable and reliable connection.
Dual monitors
Using a dual monitor setup will undoubtedly improve your training experience, enabling you to simultaneously participate in hands-on exercises and maintain engagement with your instructor.

Not recommended:
Using tablets are not recommended due to their smaller screen size, which could cause eye strain and discomfort over the course of the program's duration.

Upon meeting the attendance and assessment(s) criteria, participants will be awarded with a digital Statement of Attainment (SOA), accredited by SkillsFuture Singapore. SOA will be reflected as ICT-SYS-5008-1.1 Systems Design.
Upon meeting the attendance and assessment(s) criteria, participants will be awarded with a digital Certificate of Completion from NTUC LearningHub.
External Certification Exam

The participant will be able to attempt the VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV) exam after attending this course. Upon passing the exam, the participant will receive VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV) accreditation from VMware.

Length: 130 minutes to complete the exam
Cost: 250 USD
Format: 70 Questions, Single and Multiple Choice, Proctored
Passing Score: 300

VMware exams are scaled on a range from 100-500, with the determined raw cut score scaled to a value of 300. Your exam may contain unscored questions in addition to the scored questions, this is a standard testing practice. You will not know which questions are unscored, your exam results will reflect your performance on the scored questions only.

Please note that LHub will not be issuing any exam vouchers.

You will be awarded by VMware with the following digital badge(s) upon passing the official VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV) Exam

Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
From 1 October 2023, attendance-taking for SkillsFuture Singapore's (SSG) funded courses must be done digitally via the Singpass App. This applies to both physical and synchronous e-learning courses.
Trainee must achieve at least 75% attendance.
Trainee must pass all prescribed tests / assessments and attain 100% competency.
NTUC LearningHub reserves the right to claw back the funded amount from trainee if he/she did not meet the eligibility criteria.

Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents

UTAP:

This course is eligible for Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP).
