This course aims to help:

  • Existing food service sector employees including Barista /Bartender / Wine Server /Wine Waiter /Commis Sommelier / Host / Hostess / Crew Leader/ Pastry Cook/ Baker/ Senior Cook / Station Chef/ Server / Service Crew / Runner/ Assistant Pastry Cook / Assistant Baker / Kitchen Assistant/ Cook / Kitchen Assistant, who are required to support organisational compliance to workplace safety and health (WSH) legal and other requirements within the work area by conducting checks according to work plans and instructions
  • New hires in the food services sector

Course Overview

This course aims to help employees in food services organisations implement workplace safety and health (WSH) practices, in accordance with legislative requirements.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Comply with WSH legal requirements
  • Identify WSH issues in accordance with organisational procedures
  • Follow the risk control measures implemented in the workplace in accordance with hierarchy of controls
  • Disseminate information on risk and control measures to the persons exposed to the risk in accordance with organisational procedures

Pre-requisites

  • No prior experience or knowledge required
  • Min 18 years old
  • Primary school level onwards
  • Able to read, write and speak in English (WLPN Level 3 and above)

Course Outline

  • LU1 - WSH Legal and Other Requirements
    • Comply with WSH Legal Requirements
  • LU2 – Hazard Identification
    • Identify WSH issues in accordance with organisational procedures
  • LU3 – Risk Controls
  • Follow risk control measure implemented in the workplace in accordance with the hierarchy of controls
  • LU4 – Communication of Risk Controls
    • Disseminate information on risk and control

Certificate Obtained and Conferred by

Statement of Attainment (SOA) from SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG).
 

Upon meeting at least 75% attendance and passing the assessment(s), participants will receive a Certificate of Completion from NTUC LearningHub.

Funding Eligibility Criteria: 

Individual Sponsored Trainee 

Company Sponsored Trainee 

    • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents.
    • From 1 October 2023, attendance-taking for SkillsFuture Singapore's (SSG) funded courses must be done digitally via the Singpass App. This applies to both physical and synchronous e-learning courses

    • Trainee must pass all prescribed tests / assessments and attain 100% competency.
    • NTUC LearningHub reserves the right to claw back the funded amount from trainee if he/she did not meet the eligibility criteria.
    • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents.

SkillsFuture Credit: 

      • Eligible Singapore Citizens can use their SkillsFuture Credit to offset course fee payable after funding.

 PSEA:

      • Eligible Singapore Citizens can use their Post-Secondary Education Account (PSEA) funds to offset course fee payable after funding.

Absentee Payroll (AP) Funding: 

      • $4.50 per hour, capped at $100,000 per enterprise per calendar year. 
      • AP funding will be computed based on the actual number of training hours attended by the trainee.
      • Note: Courses / Modules under Professional Conversion Programme (PCP) will not be eligible for AP funding claim.
