Who Should Attend

  • Occupational Hygiene (OH) professionals such as OH Technicians, Officers and occupational hygienists who conduct sampling and monitoring of air-borne contaminants.
  • Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) professionals, such as WSH Coordinators, Officers, and Auditors want to become competent in sampling and assessing health risks due to airborne contaminants.
  • Persons who want to be recognised as competent person for sampling and monitoring of air-borne contaminants by the Ministry of Manpower and the National Environment Agency.

Course Overview

Covers the knowledge and techniques required to measure and assess the risks due to hazardous substances at the workplace. It will include the skills to be used in selecting the appropriate equipment to conduct sampling of hazardous substances and to evaluate exposure at the workplace

Course Objectives

Covers the knowledge and application skills in measuring and assessing contaminants at the workplace; including:
•    Selecting the appropriate equipment to conduct sampling of hazardous substances in the workplace
•    Evaluating the exposure levels to hazardous substances
•    Assessing the risks due to hazardous substances  

Pre-requisites

You must fulfil course entry requirements.

Course Entry Requirements:

1. Literacy and Numeracy

WSQ Employability Skills Workplace Literacy and Numeracy Level 6; or
Grade C6 in GCE O Level for English and Mathematics

2. Science

Grade C6 in GCE O Level Science (Chemistry)

Course Outline

•    Analyse the air-borne contaminants and anticipate their ill-health in accordance with a risk management process and relevant legal requirements.
•    Formulate a sampling strategy for the measurement and monitoring of hazardous substances in accordance with monitoring objectives, relevant air sampling and analysis guidelines and air sampling theories and practices.
•    Conduct sampling of air-borne contaminants in accordance with the sampling strategy.
•    Analyse the monitoring results and evaluate the health risks associated with the exposure to the hazardous substances in accordance with relevant occupational hygiene standards and air emission limits.
•    Compose the monitoring reports that meet the relevant legal requirements and objectives of the monitoring. 

Certificate Obtained and Conferred by

A Statement of Attainment (SOA) will be awarded upon completion of each unit.

Funding Eligibility Criteria:

Individual Sponsored Trainee

Company Sponsored Trainee

  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • From 1 October 2023, attendance-taking for SkillsFuture Singapore's (SSG) funded courses must be done digitally via the Singpass App. This applies to both physical and synchronous e-learning courses

  • Trainee must achieve at least 75% attendance
  • Trainee must pass all prescribed tests / assessments, and attain 100% competency
  • NTUC LearningHub reserves the right to claw back the funded amount from trainee if he/she did not meet the eligibility criteria
  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents

  • Eligible Singapore Citizens can use their SkillsFuture Credit to offset course fee payable after funding

PSEA:

  • Eligible Singapore Citizens can use their Post-Secondary Education Account (PSEA) funds to offset course fee payable after funding

UTAP:

  • NTUC Members can enjoy up to 50% funding (capped at $250 per year) under Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP)

Absentee Payroll (AP) Funding:

  • $4.50 per hour, capped at $100,000 per enterprise per calendar year
  • AP funding will be computed based on the actual number of training hours attended by the trainee
  • Note: Courses / Modules under Professional Conversion Programme (PCP) will not be eligible for AP funding claim.
