Who Should Attend

This course has been specifically designed for the learners without a background in the healthcare industry. The course content and examples are designed to provide entry-level care workers with advanced skills for safe caring of healthcare clients requiring assistance in activities of daily living (ADL) and other essential daily tasks. It also provides learners with fundamental knowledge on infection control and prevention practices which is required in performing patient care activities.

Course Objectives

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the basic biopsychosocial needs of patients.
  • Coordinate basic infection prevention and control practices in performing patient care activities.
  • Perform basic patient assessment using appropriate equipment, tools and techniques.
  • Demonstrate assisting patients with activities of daily living (ADL) using proper equipment and interventions.
  • Assist in essential care activities that support patients’ treatment within a healthcare setting.

The admission requirements are: 

Employability Skills Workforce Skills Qualifications (ES WSQ) Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) Level 5.

  • LEARNING UNIT 1:  THE BASIC NEEDS OF PATIENTS

  • LEARNING UNIT 2:  INFECTION PREVENTION AND CONTROL

  • LEARNING UNIT 3:  BASIC PATIENT ASSESSMENT

  • LEARNING UNIT 4:  ASSISTING PATIENTS WITH ACTIVITIES OF DAILY LIVING (ADL)

  • LEARNING UNIT 5:  ASSIST PATIENTS IN OTHER BASIC CARE ACTIVITIES

Certificate Obtained and Conferred by

  • Upon meeting the attendance and assessment(s) criteria, participants will be awarded with a digital Statement of Attainment (SOA), accredited by SkillsFuture Singapore.

  • Upon meeting the attendance and assessment(s) criteria, participants will be awarded with a digital Certificate of Completion from NTUC LearningHub.
  • Upon meeting at least 75% attendance and passing the assessment(s), participants will receive a Certificate of Completion from NTUC LearningHub.

  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • From 1 October 2023, attendance-taking for SkillsFuture Singapore's (SSG) funded courses must be done digitally via the Singpass App. This applies to both physical and synchronous e-learning courses

  • Trainee must pass all prescribed tests / assessments, and attain 100% competency
  • NTUC LearningHub reserves the right to claw back the funded amount from trainee if he/she did not meet the eligibility criteria
  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
