Course Overview

Understanding and analyzing data is one of the key skills required in the industry today. This course focuses on the various aspects of data analytics using Python. Participants will be taught to use and be taken through the key libraries for data ingestion and manipulation, exploratory data analysis, model building and data visualization as well as the basic statistics knowledge required to understand the concepts in the latter courses.

Course Objectives

  • Learn how to get data from external sources into the Python environment and manipulate and analyse data.
  • Use statistical algorithms and methods to analyse data as part of the data analytics process
  • Learn how python libraries can be leveraged to deal with data inconsistencies, issues with data and making them fit for data analytics
  • Use appropriate statistical methods and visualizations for descriptive analytics
  • Form hypothesis and do predictive analytics
  • Learn the basics of how supervised machine learning models work and how evaluation and optimization can be carried out
  • Understand basic metric and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) of different business cases
  • Plot advanced interactive visualizations for data analysis to gain insights from data.

  • Knowledge, Skills & Experience
    • This course requires a basic programming knowledge of Python.
    • Participants who do not have basic Python knowledge are encouraged to take up Fundamentals of Python prior to this course.

This course will be conducted as a Virtual Live Class (VLC) via Zoom platform. Participants must own a zoom account and have a laptop or a desktop with “Zoom Client for Meetings” installed. This can be downloaded from https://zoom.us/download

Certificate Obtained and Conferred by

  • Upon meeting 75% attendance and passing the assessment, participants will be awarded with a digital Statement of Attainment (SOA), accredited by SkillsFuture Singapore. SOA will be reflected as [ICT-DIT-4006-1.1 Data Visualization].
  • Certificate of completion from NTUC LearningHub

Upon meeting at least 75% attendance and passing the assessment(s), participants will receive a Certificate of Completion from NTUC LearningHub.

As this is a government subsidised programme, the entire training programme will be video recorded for audit purposes by the relevant funding agency. To ascertain their presence, Trainees / Participants are required to

  • From 1 October 2023, attendance-taking for SkillsFuture Singapore's (SSG) funded courses must be done digitally via the Singpass App. This applies to both physical and synchronous e-learning courses

  • Trainee must pass all prescribed tests / assessments, and attain 100% competency
  • NTUC LearningHub reserves the right to claw back the funded amount from trainee if he/she did not meet the eligibility criteria
  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents

Absentee Payroll (AP) Funding:

  • $4.50 per hour, capped at $100,000 per enterprise per calendar year
  • AP funding will be computed based on the actual number of training hours attended by the trainee
