Course Overview

This course enables you to acquire the abilities and knowledge relating to the TSC of Access Control Management at Level 3 proficiency.
At the end of this course, you will be able to:
-    Know how to deploy, monitor, and manage security equipment on site
-    Supervise Security Officers in access control duties

Course Objectives

This Competency Unit enables you to acquire the abilities and knowledge relating to the TSC of Access Control Management at Level 3 proficiency. On completion of this unit, you can apply appropriate actions to deploy access control equipment and supervise security personnel in access control. Thus, upon successful completion of this Programme, you will have the knowledge and applications skills to “Deploy Security Equipment”, including: 

  1. Deploy access control equipment 
  2. Supervise security personnel in access control 
  3. Maintain operational readiness of access control equipment 

Pre-requisites

Have at least 1 year of working experience in the security industry emplaced as a Senior Security Officer (SSO)

OR

Participants with the following competency ratings from the Employability Skills are eligible:
-    Listening/Speaking Min. Level 6
-    Reading/Writing Min. Level 6
-    Numeracy Min. Level 5 

Course Outline

Learning Unit 1 – Deploy access control equipment
- Deploy and activate access control equipment following organization procedures
- Understand organizational procedures for handling access control equipment
- Identify types and usage of Automated Visitor Management System
- Understand the characteristics and limitations of different types of access control equipment
- Carry out routine and pre-operational equipment checks

Learning Unit 2 - Supervise security personnel in access control
- Conduct briefings and site orientations of the access control equipment to security personnel
- Verify and respond to security personnel’s reports on unauthorized entries
- Carry out routine checks on security personnel and equipment to ensure manning and serviceability levels for critical equipment
- Recommend adjustments in the deployment of access control equipment

Learning Unit 3 - Maintain operational readiness of access control equipment
- Understand manufacturers’ specifications relating to the operation and maintenance of access control equipment 
- Report equipment faults or repair requirements to maintenance contractor and ensure remedial actions are taken
- Identify types of documentation and records
- Prepare and maintain records and documentation

Certificate Obtained and Conferred by

  • Statement of Attainment (SOA) from SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) will be issued for each module graded competent. SOA reflected as SEC-TEM-3001-1.1.
  • Certificate of completion from NTUC LearningHub

Upon meeting at least 75% attendance and passing the assessment(s), participants will receive a Certificate of Completion from NTUC LearningHub.

  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • From 1 October 2023, attendance-taking for SkillsFuture Singapore's (SSG) funded courses must be done digitally via the Singpass App. This applies to both physical and synchronous e-learning courses

  • Trainee must pass all prescribed tests / assessments, and attain 100% competency
  • NTUC LearningHub reserves the right to claw back the funded amount from trainee if he/she did not meet the eligibility criteria
  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents

  • Eligible Singapore Citizens can use their SkillsFuture Credit to offset course fee payable after funding.

UTAP: 

  • This course is eligible for Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP).
  • NTUC members can enjoy up to 50% funding (capped at $250 per year) under UTAP.
