Course Overview

This unit of competency specifies the knowledge, skills and attitudes required of a Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Officer to develop Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) frameworks and implement procedures and practices to ensure a safe and reliable workplace environment.

Course Objectives

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Able to identify the elements of WSH management systems standards
  • Able to identify the types of WSH management programmes and the resources required for its implementation
  • Able to organise the implementation of WSH management programmes to meet the WSH management system standards
  • Able to identify the types of WSH training
  • Able to identify the relevant stakeholder for WSH training
  • Able to organise the WSH training programme for stakeholders
  • Able to organise a management review session and document the plan of actions.
  • Able to identify all the applicable WSH legal and other requirements for the workplace.
  • Able to identify the means to update the amended or new WSH legal requirements.
  • Able to keep an up to date WSH legal documents and records in accordance with legal and other requirements
  • Able to explain the legal compliance requirements to the stakeholders using appropriate communication channels.
  • Able to organise the governmental agency visits or inspections.
  • Able to organise the compliance audits at the workplace.

Pre-requisites

Learners are assumed to:

  1. Possess ES Workplace Literacy and Numeracy Level 5 or GCE “N” Level English grade 5 & Mathematics grade 5; and
  2. Possess WSH skills and knowledge equivalent to that of Certificate in WSH and

Have at least 1 year of WSH relevant working experience

Certificate Obtained and Conferred by

Upon meeting at least 75% attendance and passing the assessment(s), participants will receive a Certificate of Completion from NTUC LearningHub.

Funding Eligibility Criteria:

  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • From 1 October 2023, attendance-taking for SkillsFuture Singapore's (SSG) funded courses must be done digitally via the Singpass App. This applies to both physical and synchronous e-learning courses

  • Trainee must pass all prescribed tests / assessments, and attain 100% competency
  • NTUC LearningHub reserves the right to claw back the funded amount from trainee if he/she did not meet the eligibility criteria
  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents

SkillsFuture Credit:

  • Eligible Singapore Citizens can use their SkillsFuture Credit to offset course fee payable after funding
     

PSEA:

  • Eligible Singapore Citizens can use their Post-Secondary Education Account (PSEA) funds to offset course fee payable after funding

UTAP:

  • NTUC Members can enjoy up to 50% funding (capped at $250 per year) under Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP)

Absentee Payroll (AP) Funding:

  • $4.50 per hour, capped at $100,000 per enterprise per calendar year
  • AP funding will be computed based on the actual number of training hours attended by the trainee
  • Note: Courses / Modules under Professional Conversion Programme (PCP) will not be eligible for AP funding claim.
