Course Overview

This course has been specifically designed for learners working in organisations and/or individual service providers to organisations.  It is designed to offer essential Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) concepts and their workplace significance. It aims to cultivate an environment that attracts, retains, and motivates talent, fuels creativity and innovation, and drives productivity and profitability.

Guidelines to Workplace Fairness Legislation is included in this course as well.

Course Objectives

At the end of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Analyse the principles of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) to gain a comprehensive understanding of various dimensions of diversity.
  • Demonstrate emotional intelligence skills to facilitate respectful and empathetic discussions and interactions when addressing DEI topics.
  • Foster an inclusive workplace culture that engages and retains talent, ultimately promoting creativity and innovation.
  • Enhance leadership and management skills to lead diverse teams effectively, encouraging collaboration and innovation.
  • Empower HR professionals to lead and enhance DEI initiatives and programs within organisations, thus supporting talent management.
  • Enable individuals who provide services to organisations to stay updated on DEI trends, ensuring the relevance of their services, and fostering potential collaborations with more organisations.

Pre-requisites

Assumed Skills and Knowledge

Assumed skills and knowledge means what we expect you to know and be able to do already before you start the course.  We assume you have:

  • Basic communication skills: Ability to effectively communicate and engage in group discussions. Clear and respectful communication is essential in DEI training.
  • Open mindset: Willingness to explore and accept diverse perspectives and experience is essential. Open-mindedness fosters an inclusive learning environment.
  • Privacy and confidentiality: Understand the importance of maintaining confidentiality after the sessions.


The admission requirements are: 

  • Read, write, and speak English at WPL Level 7 
  • Hardware & Software
    • This course can be conducted In-person as well as a Virtual Live Class (VLC) via Zoom platform.
    • Participants must own a Zoom account and have a laptop or a desktop with “Zoom Client for Meetings” installed. Download from zoom.us/download.

  • Operating system: Windows 10 or MacOS (64 bit or above) 
  • Processor/CPU: 1.8 GHz, 2-core Intel Core i3 or higher 
  • Minimum 20 GB hard disk space 
  • Minimum 8 GB RAM 
  • Webcam (camera must be turned on for the duration of the class) 
  • Microphone 
  • Internet Connection: Wired or Wireless broadband 
  • Latest version of Zoom software to be installed on computer or laptop prior to the class. 

 Good-to-have: 

  • Wired internet connection
    Wired internet will provide you with stable and reliable connection. 
  • Dual monitors
    Using a dual monitor setup will undoubtedly improve your training experience, enabling you to simultaneously participate in hands-on exercises and maintain engagement with your instructor. 

 Not recommended: 

  • Using tablets are not recommended due to their smaller screen size, which could cause eye strain and discomfort over the course of the program's duration.

LU1: Advance workplace DEI through comprehensive assessment, analysis, enhancement, and implementation

LO1 Assess areas for improvement to enhance diversity and inclusion at workplace

Topics:

  1. Relevance of market trends
  2. Impact of biases at workplace.
  3. Strategies to mitigate biases.

LO2 Analyse market trend that impact diversity and inclusion at workplace

Topic:

  1. Tripartite guidelines for fair employment practices

LO3 Enhance diversity and inclusion management for compliance and effectiveness.

Topics:

  1. Implementation strategies
  2. Employment and workplace legislation

LO4 Implement cultured-aligned diversity and inclusion programs.

LU2: Empower employees to actively contribute to a diverse and inclusive workforce    

Topics:

  1. Accountability for DEI initiatives with stakeholders

LO5 Compile and update diversity and inclusion policies to employees proficiently.

Topics:

  1. Build an Inclusive Culture
  2. Strategies for engaging employees in DEI efforts
  3. Embedding DEI principles into organisational culture

LO6 Foster an Inclusive culture and value DEI at workplace.

  1. Effective communication techniques
  2. Management of diversity related challenges

LO7 Employ communication techniques to engage and support employees, advising them on managing diversity-related challenges.

LO8 Assess program success to encourage continuous improvements.

Certificate Obtained and Conferred by

  • Upon meeting the attendance and assessment(s) criteria, participants will be awarded with a digital Statement of Attainment (SOA), accredited by SkillsFuture Singapore. SOA will be reflected as HRS-HRM-3014-1.1 Diversity and Inclusion Management.
  • Certificate of completion from NTUC LearningHub

Upon meeting at least 75% attendance and passing the assessment(s), participants will receive a Certificate of Completion from NTUC LearningHub.

  • From 1 October 2023, attendance-taking for SkillsFuture Singapore's (SSG) funded courses must be done digitally via the Singpass App. This applies to both physical and synchronous e-learning courses.​
  • Trainee must pass all prescribed tests / assessments and attain 100% competency.
  • NTUC LearningHub reserves the right to claw back the funded amount from trainee if he/she did not meet the eligibility criteria.
