Course Objectives

This course equips the security personnel with knowledge and skills to be able to contribute to the management of security incidents and apply them to the work place.

These are the admission requirements:

  • Participants with the following competency ratings from the Employability Skills are eligible:
    • Listening/Speaking   Min. Level 7
    • Reading/Writing  Min. Level 7
    • Numeracy  Min Level 7

Course Outline

Plan for performance of security Team

  • Identify and determine the purpose, roles, responsibilities and accountabilities of the team of security officers
  • Plan work tasks and schedules with security team members to enable achievement of team goals and objectives in accordance with organisational procedures
  • Identify and clarify team requirements within the security officers to ensure an accurate interpretation and understanding of work specifications
  • Agree on performance measures and requirements with the security team
  • Provide appropriate support to the security team as required to identify and resolve problems that may impede its performance

Lead to influence security team performance

  • Model positive behaviour and performance to security officers
  • Suggest improvements to organisational standards and values which may damage the organisations image using established communications channels
  • Encourage security officers to work responsibly and improve performance
  • Encourage security officers to work together as a team
  • Assist management to ensure ideas and information receive the acceptance and support of other security officers

Assess security team performance

  • Monitor competencies of individual security officers and the team systematically to assess progress in achieving security team goals and objectives
  • Carry out monitoring of security officers individual and team performance against defined performance criteria in accordance with organisational procedures
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses of security officers in the team and assess developmental requirements of security officers in accordance with organisational human resource plan
  • Identify variations in the quality of work performance of individual security officers and take positive action to address deficiencies
  • Refer to appropriate person(s) for performance issues that cannot be rectified or resolved with individual security officers

Review security team performance

  • Provide security officers with constructive feedback, positive support and advice on individual and/or team performance
  • Identify areas and priorities for development based on an analysis of assessed performance and skill and knowledge levels against personal and team goals
  • Identify and arrange for developmental opportunities to improve security officers individual and team competence
  • Review individual and security team goals and objectives regularly to meet changes in client requirements and/or organisational direction
  • Recommend development plans for each security officer to appropriate person to identify relevant development activities in accordance with organisational requirements

Certificate Obtained and Conferred by

  • Statement of Attainment (SOA) from SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) will be issued for each module graded competent. SOA reflected as –
  • Certificate of completion from NTUC LearningHub

Upon meeting at least 75% attendance and passing the assessment(s), participants will receive a Certificate of Completion from NTUC LearningHub.

Funding Eligibility Criteria:

  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • From 1 October 2023, attendance-taking for SkillsFuture Singapore's (SSG) funded courses must be done digitally via the Singpass App. This applies to both physical and synchronous e-learning courses

  • Trainee must pass all prescribed tests / assessments, and attain 100% competency
  • NTUC LearningHub reserves the right to claw back the funded amount from trainee if he/she did not meet the eligibility criteria
  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents

SkillsFuture Credit: 

  • Eligible Singapore Citizens can use their SkillsFuture Credit to offset course fee payable after funding.

UTAP: 

  • This course is eligible for Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP).
  • NTUC members can enjoy up to 50% funding (capped at $250 per year) under UTAP.
