Course Overview

The program, WSQ Support Multi-Disciplinary Approach to Care Delivery, is designed to foster inter-professional collaboration among different healthcare professionals to cultivate the right attitude towards collaboration regardless of disciplines. The program aims to improve the ability of various healthcare professionals to work collaboratively in a more aligned and ethically appropriate manner through an appreciation of one’s role and responsibility of the wider patient care value-chain which transcends beyond hospitals to the community.

Course Objectives

Describe the different types and roles of healthcare professionals involved in care delivery and how each role contributes to the overall patient care

Identify individual’s strengths, areas of improvements and personal values

Identify one's role and responsibilities within the care delivery process and practice effective communication and co-operation that value-add to the team

Apply ethical conduct when building professional relationships, and contribute positively to intended outcomes of inter-professional teams and networks

Pre-requisites

Be able to listen, speak, read and write English and use numeracy skills at a proficiency level equivalent to the following:

  • Employability Skills Workforce Skills Qualifications (ES WSQ) Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) Level 5

Course Outline

Fostering Interprofessional collaboration is pivotal in healthcare to provide innovative, integral and holistic care for the patients. When health care personnel, who may be in their different roles, understands their responsibilities and accountabilities clearly and is able to identify and satisfy the needs of the other interdisciplinary teams, the outcome will be amplified to beyond the team success. Only through teamwork and collaboration can this be achieved.

Interprofessional collaboration spells out the communication approach and practices that allows an individual to work in a team setting and to work across different disciplines effectively. This program aims to equip the health care personnel with the cognitive knowledge, applicable skills and a transformed attitude towards working in an interdisciplinary environment.

  • Learning Unit 2 – The Essence of Effective Teamworking
  • Learning Unit 3 – Developing Winning Interprofessional Partnerships

Certificate Obtained and Conferred by

A Statement of Attainment (SOA) from SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) will be issued.

Upon meeting at least 75% attendance and passing the assessment(s), participants will receive a Certificate of Completion from NTUC LearningHub.
