Course Overview
This is Core Module 2 for Certified Event Sustainability (CES) Accreditation Programme.
As we recover from the COVID 19 pandemic, the tourism industry cannot return to “business as usual” approach if we are envisioning a sustainable future. Contributing towards a more sustainable planet is becoming more of a necessity rather than a choice in the new economy. Tourism stakeholders are now convinced that initiating sustainable practices is as good for the bottom line as it is for the planet and people.
Being sustainable need not compromise on quality and experience. In fact, when planned carefully, a sustainable approach can enrich visitor experience and create competitive advantages for the destination. Increasingly, consumers are socially and environmentally conscious and may be more inclined to support events and destinations that prioritise sustainability. Organising and implementing sustainable experiences through various formats such as events and activations require significant planning and coordination to meet specific goals and actions that are assessed regularly and ultimately verified through the authorized agencies. Everyone must develop an appreciation for sustainability and be able to identify the focus areas that need to be managed. A clear understanding of the sustainability roadmap, and organisational strategies will help in developing best practices.
By the end of the two-day workshop, customer and visitor facing executives and managers would have obtained a broad overview of the sustainability concept, the need to drive sustainability, their roles and responsibilities in ensuring the implementation of the sustainability strategies, roadmap and guidelines.
