“It’s never ‘too old’ to learn and re-learn. A positive attitude is all you need,”

-- says Ms Caroline Moh --

Ms Caroline Moh, who turns 61 years old this year, leads a fulfilling lifestyle. She is a Financial Controller during the day time and would spend her leisure time learning and doing things she enjoys, such as preparing home-cooked meals, volunteering, taking up Zumba classes and different types of courses to upgrade herself.

“I like to learn new things and meet different people. Things are always changing and I see the need to upgrade myself,” Caroline shared with us. She retired from the workforce in 2012 and participated in a series of activities with U Live. From there, she got to know about NTUC LearningHub (LHUB) and decided to take up a course to upgrade her Microsoft Office skills – something that she did not manage to learn during her earlier days. “The training at LHUB has helped me greatly and I am thankful to my trainer, Ms Lien Lee Hong, whom has helped me along the way. She always encourages us, gives real-life and bite-sized examples to illustrate the different concepts. Learning became much easier for us and we could understand what was taught. I was able to apply what I learnt into use at work.”

Throughout the course, Ms Lien also saw Caroline’s enthusiasm in learning and her capabilities. Hence, she encouraged Caroline to return to the workforce. Eventually, Caroline took up a one year contract role and even moved on to a permanent role thereafter.

Staying active is not easy for Caroline and at times, she finds learning a challenge. However, she always remind herself that it’s never ‘too old’ to learn and re-learn. “It’s important to stay positive and enhance your skills so that you will not be out of touch. Enjoy your life, age gracefully and be productive at the same time,” Caroline shared with a grin. Being an avid learner, she is now looking forward to attend courses to improve her writing skills and would also encourage those around her to learn and reskill.
