Course Overview
Financial literacy is a key skillset for PMETs (Professionals, Managers, Executives, and Technicians) to make informed and accurate business decisions based on comprehensive assessments and analyses of financial data.
This course is designed to equip PMETs with the knowledge and skills necessary to review key financial information, such as financial statements, ratios and effectively identify an organisation's strengths, weaknesses, trends, risks and opportunities. Learn to use financial data to develop a picture of an organisation’s financial health and position. Through a trainer-led session, participants will also learn to apply business frameworks like SWOT and Porter’s 5 forces to analyse a business and develop insights.

Course Objectives
Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the various type of financial statements and their purpose in reporting
- Utilise information in financial statements to develop a picture of an organisation’s financial and business health
- Calculate key financial ratios and apply financial ratio analysis
- Identify competitive advantage, risk and opportunities of a business
- Develop macro perspective of the market based on market indicators
- Make financial projections and forecast for a business
- Collect effective data and insights to make deeper investigations and support innovation process
Pre-requisites
The admission requirements are:
- Read, write, and speak English at WPL Level 4
- Manipulate numbers at WPN Level 4
- Hardware & Software (if applicable)
- This course will be conducted as a Virtual Live Class (VLC) via Zoom platform.
- Participants must own a Zoom account and have a laptop or a desktop with “Zoom Client for Meetings” installed. Download from zoom.us/download.

Course Outline
LU1: Financial Statement Analysis
- Understand and interpret the various types of financial statements used by business organisations
- Familiarise with commonly used financial terms
LU2: Business Analysis
- Analyse financial report using key financial information to assess an organisation's financial position
- Apply SWOT and Porter 5 Forces Factor to conduct business analysis
- Interpreting key financial ratios
LU3: Using Financial Knowledge for Strategic Decision Making
- Identify sources of risk from the financial reports
- Develop market forecast
Certificate Obtained and Conferred by
- Upon meeting the attendance and assessment(s) criteria, participants will be awarded with a digital Statement of Attainment (SOA), accredited by SkillsFuture Singapore. SOA will be reflected as Financial Services Technical Skills and Competencies – Financial Analysis FSE-FIN-3024-1.1
- Upon meeting at least 75% attendance and passing the assessment(s), participants will receive a Certificate of Completion from NTUC LearningHub.
