Course Overview

This one-day course covers general cloud computing concepts, as well as general cloud computing models and services, such as Private, Public and Hybrid cloud, and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). It will also cover some core Azure services and solutions, key Azure pillar services concerning privacy, security, trust, compliance and finally cover pricing and support services available with Azure.

This course is primarily lectures and demonstrations. This course will also help prepare participants for the AZ-900 exam*, which is aligned to Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals certification.

*Please note that LHub will not be issuing any exam voucher for this certification.

Course Objectives

By the end of the course, you should be able to meet the following objectives:

Pre-requisites

We recommend that attendees of this course have the following prerequisites:

  • There are no prerequisites for taking this course.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing is helpful but isn't necessary.
  • Hardware & Software
    • This course will be conducted as a Virtual Live Class (VLC) via Zoom platform.
    • Participants must own a Zoom account and have a laptop or a desktop with “Zoom Client for Meetings” installed. Download from zoom.us/download.

Must-have:
Please ensure that your computer or laptop meets the following requirements.

  • Operating system: Windows 10 or MacOS (64 bit or above) 
  • Processor/CPU: 1.8 GHz, 2-core Intel Core i3 or higher 
  • Minimum 20 GB hard disk space 
  • Minimum 8 GB RAM 
  • Webcam (camera must be turned on for the duration of the class) 
  • Microphone 
  • Internet Connection: Wired or Wireless broadband 
  • Latest version of Zoom software to be installed on computer or laptop prior to the class. 

Good-to-have:

  • Wired internet connection
    Wired internet will provide you with stable and reliable connection.
  • Dual monitors
    Using a dual monitor setup will undoubtedly improve your training experience, enabling you to simultaneously participate in hands-on exercises and maintain engagement with your instructor. 

Not recommended:
Using tablets are not recommended due to their smaller screen size, which could cause eye strain and discomfort over the course of the program's duration.

Module 3 – Security, Privacy, Compliance and Trust

  • Understand and describe how to secure network connectivity in Microsoft Azure
  • Understand and describe core Azure identity services
  • Understand and describe security tools and features
  • Understand and describe Azure governance methodologies
  • Understand and describe monitoring and reporting in Azure
  • Understand and describe privacy, compliance, and data protection standards in Azure

Module 4 – Azure Pricing and Support

  • Understand and describe Microsoft Azure subscriptions and management groups
  • Recognize ways to plan and manage Azure costs
  • Identify Azure support options
  • Understand and describe features of Azure service-level agreements (SLAs)
  • Understand and describe the service lifecycle in Azure

Certificate Obtained and Conferred by

  • Certificate of Completion from NTUC LearningHub
    Upon meeting at least 75% attendance and passing the assessment(s), participants will receive a Certificate of Completion from NTUC LearningHub.
  • Statement of Attainment (SOA) from SkillsFuture Singapore
    After passing the assessment(s), participants will receive a SOA from SkillsFuture Singapore, certifying that they have achieved the following Competency Standard(s):
    • ICT-DES-3003-1.1 Infrastructure Design
  • External Certification
    The participant will be able to attempt the Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ900) exam after attending this course. Upon passing the exam, you will receive the Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ900) accreditation. This certification validates their understanding and proficiency in fundamental concepts related to Microsoft Azure, including cloud concepts, Azure services, security, privacy, compliance, and pricing. This accreditation demonstrates their ability to leverage Azure services effectively and their readiness to pursue further Azure certifications and roles.
  • Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ900) Exam Fee
    The course fee does not include the Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ900) Exam Voucher. Those interested in taking this exam need to purchase their own exam voucher, which are available for purchase via exam e-shop.

Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ900) exam voucher: $175.39 (inclusive of 9% GST) per voucher
Exam duration: 60 Mins per Exam
Exam format: Maximum of 40-60 questions per exam. Multiple choice questions (single and multiple responses), drag and drops and performance-based
Passing score: 700 out of 1000
