TAXI DRIVER VOCATIONAL LICENCE COURSE
Course Duration
Mode of Assessment
The assessment is designed to test all the competencies required of a certified TDVL or a PDVL holder. The format of assessment is as follows:
TDVL Course Assessment
Paper A consists of:
- M1 (15 minutes): Apply On-The-Road Safety Practices
- M2 (15 minutes): Applying Essential Engagement and Handling Techniques with Passengers
Paper B consists of:
- M3 (1hour): Comply with Rules and Regulations for Taxi Drivers and PHC Drivers
Paper C consists of:
- M4 (1 hour): Apply Techniques to Identify Key Routes
- M5 (30 minutes): Apply Principles of Route Planning Using Printed Street Directory and Digital Navigational Tools
Total: 3 hours
This Assessment is conducted at Republic polytechnic.

This course provides training to aspiring taxi drivers who wish to obtain the Taxi Driver’s Vocational Licence (TDVL) issued by the Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA).

This course comprises of
- 5 core modules (M1 to M5) for candidates interested in obtaining the TDVL
Learners must attend the required modules and pass all the prescribed assessments for the modules before being certified for the PDVL.

Course Objectives
The course enables learners to acquire all the competencies required to provide point-to-point services to commuters as a profession, and to help drivers pass the prescribed assessments to obtain the TDVL issued by LTA.
Pre-requisites
- Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Be at least 30 years old at the point of application
- Have a valid Class 3 or 3A Singapore driving licence for a continuous period of at least 1 year at the point of application
- Be a Singapore Citizen
- TDVL Approval to Course (ATC) from LTA
- LTA Medical Report

Upon meeting 100% attendance and passing the assessment(s), participants will receive a Certificate of Completion from NTUC LearningHub.

Mode of Delivery: Physical Class
- Participants are required to bring a smart phone for Module 4 and Module 5 to get practise on using the apps to able to identify landmarks and use digital maps to navigate from point A to point B.
