Who Should Attend

  • Fitness professionals who intend to conduct inclusive training sessions.
  • Event organisers who intend to include inclusive experiences in their event programmes
  • Course participants are required to possess certifications in standard first aid with AED and CPR, as well as one in a relevant fitness or exercise (NCSF, ACE, CrossFit, Yoga, etc.)

Course Overview

This is a 2-day workshop designed to bolster the government’s enhanced support on wellness experience, and to equip and upskill the wellness practitioners in knowledge and skill sets required to plan, coordinate and deliver wellness classes and experiences to audiences with special requirements, such as PwDs, persons with special needs (PWSNs), seniors and children.

Course Objectives

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify requirements for each target audience
  • Plan an audience-appropriate training program
  • Execute a safe training session
  • Risk Management and Safety & Emergency Responses

Pre-requisites

The admission requirements are: 

  • Read, write, and speak English at WPL Level 4 
  • Manipulate numbers at WPN Level 4 

Course Outline

Module 1: Introduction

  • Overview of training audience with special requirements. Types of target audience, ethics, stakeholders, eco-system.

Module 2: Program Planning

  • Understanding the target audiences and their specific needs. Participants will be introduced to the different considerations when planning to the different target audiences.

  • Identifying suitable types of exercises and equipment specific. Participants will be taught to select suitable exercises and equipment to support a training program. 

  • Identifying injury and hazard, and managing risk. Participants will be taught to shape a suitable environment for a safe and inviting training space.

  • Appropriate manpower and resource allocation. Participants will be introduced to considerations when planning for manpower allocations and venue selections.

  • Participants will gain understanding of professional and ethical guidelines in providing fitness coaching services to PwDs, PWSNs, Seniors and Children, as well as caretakers involved.

Module 3: Training Proper

  • Training set-up and considerations. Participants will be taught set up, safety considerations, and how to deal and react with unforeseen circumstances, as well as implementing a contingency plan in the event of an emergency or medical situation.

  • Methods of instruction. Participants will be taught how to modulate their speech and instructions for various target audiences. 

Certificate Obtained and Conferred by

  • Upon meeting the attendance and assessment(s) criteria, participants will be awarded with a digital Statement of Attainment (SOA), accredited by SkillsFuture Singapore.

  • Upon meeting the attendance and assessment(s) criteria, participants will be awarded with a digital Certificate of Completion from NTUC LearningHub.
  • Certificate of completion from NTUC LearningHub

Upon meeting at least 75% attendance and passing the assessment(s), participants will receive a Certificate of Completion from NTUC LearningHub.

Funding Eligibility Criteria

  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • From 1 October 2023, attendance-taking for SkillsFuture Singapore's (SSG) funded courses must be done digitally via the Singpass App. This applies to both physical and synchronous e-learning courses

  • Trainee must pass all prescribed tests / assessments, and attain 100% competency
  • NTUC LearningHub reserves the right to claw back the funded amount from trainee if he/she did not meet the eligibility criteria
  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents

SkillsFuture Credit: 

  • Eligible Singapore Citizens can use their SkillsFuture Credit to offset course fee payable after funding.

UTAP: 

  • This course is eligible for Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP).
  • NTUC members can enjoy up to 50% funding (capped at $250 per year) under UTAP.

Absentee Payroll (AP) Funding: 

  • $4.50 per hour, capped at $100,000 per enterprise per calendar year.
  • AP funding will be computed based on the actual number of training hours attended by the trainee.
  • Note: Courses / Modules under Professional Conversion Programme (PCP) will not be eligible for AP funding claim.
