Course Overview

In an era where global supply chains have taken centre stage in sustainability concerns, the MICE & Events industry, as well as the broader tourism sector are no exception. This one-day course delves into the vital role of sustainable procurement within the context of hotels, MICE and special events, attractions, travel agencies and tourist guides, addressing pressing issues such as waste, carbon emission, safety, and community well-being.

Participants will explore how companies in the industry can lead the charge toward sustainability in supply chains, both within their organizations and suppliers through sustainable procurement policies and initiatives.

Learners will gain comprehensive insights into sustainable procurement principles, strategies, standards, and practices.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be equipped to:

  • Understand the significance and scope of Sustainable Procurement.
  • Integrate sustainability into procurement processes in accordance with ISO 20400 guidance.
  • Implement sustainable procurement practices and conduct supplier social and environmental assessments as part of sustainable reporting.

  • Preparing a sustainable procurement strategy including priorities
  • Understanding public procurement sustainability requirements
  • Integrating sustainability requirements in the specifications
  • Conducting fair sourcing strategy
  • Environmental conservation and protection within the supply chain
  • Managing carbon footprints (Scope 3 emissions) and waste within the supply chain
  • Key considerations when practicing Sustainable Procurement
  • Organizing the procurement function for sustainability
  • Evaluating and awarding contract considering sustainability criteria
  • Managing contract with sustainability considerations
  • Assessing and improving procurement and supplier sustainability performance

Certificate Obtained and Conferred by

  • Upon meeting the attendance and assessment(s) criteria, participants will be awarded with a digital Statement of Attainment (SOA), accredited by SkillsFuture Singapore. SOA will be reflected as [code name i.e., TOU-BIN-4028-1.1 Vendor Management].
     
  • Upon meeting the attendance and assessment(s) criteria, participants will be awarded with a digital Certificate of Completion from NTUC LearningHub.
     
  • External Certification
    Upon meeting the attendance and assessment(s) criteria, participants will be awarded with the Certified Event Sustainability (CES) accreditation from Singapore Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers (SACEOS).

     
  • Upon meeting at least 75% attendance and passing the assessment(s), participants will receive a Certificate of Completion from NTUC LearningHub.

  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • From 1 October 2023, attendance-taking for SkillsFuture Singapore's (SSG) funded courses must be done digitally via the Singpass App. This applies to both physical and synchronous e-learning courses.
  • Trainee must pass all prescribed tests / assessments and attain 100% competency.
  • NTUC LearningHub reserves the right to claw back the funded amount from trainee if he/she did not meet the eligibility criteria.
  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
