Course Objectives

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Data Proficiency: Gain proficiency in using a variety of data tools, including Excel pivots and filters, to efficiently process and manipulate data for visualization and presentation.
  • Data Quality Enhancement: Learn methods to enhance data quality by identifying and eliminating inconsistencies and duplicates, ensuring cleaner and more reliable datasets.
  • Data Visualization Mastery: Acquire the skills to create aesthetically sound visualizations and infographics using tools such as maps, graphs, and interactive charts. Adhere to best practices and standards for effective communication of data insights.
  • Data Analysis Techniques: Develop the ability to perform statistical and graphical analysis using data chart tools, enabling you to draw meaningful insights from diverse datasets.
  • Effective Data Storytelling: Master the art of storytelling with data by understanding guidelines for drafting cohesive narratives. Learn to communicate complex analysis results to both technical and non-technical audiences through compelling visualizations and writings.

Pre-requisites

The admission requirements are:

  • Read, write, and speak English at WPL Level 4
  • Manipulate numbers at WPN Level 4

Course Outline

Learning Unit 1. Data Tools: Understand the types of tools available for designing and producing visualizations, infographics, and reports, Identify and use data tools such as Excel pivots and filters to process data for visualization and presentation.

Learning Unit 2. Data Cleaning: Comprehend various methods to clean and organize data effectively, apply techniques to clean data by eliminating inconsistencies and duplicates.

Learning Unit 3. Data Chart Tools: Develop the ability to run statistical and graphical analysis on data to draw meaningful insights, Recognize the types of charts suited for different data types.

Learning Unit 4. Data Visualization and Infographics: Apply best practices and standards in using data visualization tools like maps, graphs, and interactive charts. Utilize appropriate software for data visualization and infographics to convey technical information to non-technical audiences effectively. Adhere to best practices and standards required in data visualization and infographics presentation.

Learning Unit 5. Data Storytelling: Understand the guidelines for drafting narratives for visual data storytelling. Execute cohesive narratives for visual data storytelling.

Certificate Obtained and Conferred by

  • Statement of Attainment (SOA) from SkillsFuture Singapore
    After passing the assessment(s), participants will receive a SOA from SkillsFuture Singapore, certifying that they have achieved the following Competency Standard(s):
    • RET-RAN-2004-1.1 Infographics and Data Visualisation

  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • From 1 October 2023, attendance-taking for SkillsFuture Singapore's (SSG) funded courses must be done digitally via the Singpass App. This applies to both physical and synchronous e-learning courses.​
  • Trainee must pass all prescribed tests / assessments and attain 100% competency.
  • NTUC LearningHub reserves the right to claw back the funded amount from trainee if he/she did not meet the eligibility criteria.
  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents

  • Eligible Singapore Citizens can use their SkillsFuture Credit to offset course fee payable after funding.

UTAP: 

  • This course is eligible for Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP).
  • NTUC members can enjoy up to 50% funding (capped at $250 per year) under UTAP.
