This unit of competency specifies the knowledge, skills and attitudes required of a Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Officer to implement systematic approaches for hazard identification and risk assessment to eliminate or reduce risks effectively

Course Objectives
Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:
- Able to identify the applicable WSH legal and other requirements that is relevant to risk management.
- Able to recognise the risk management
- Able to identify the types of hazards (including personal health issues), unsafe work conditions, and unsafe work practices at the work place by applying the methods of hazard identification
- Able to determine the risk level for the hazards identified
- Able to suggest the WSH risk control measures with the principles of hierarchy of controls.
- Able to implement the suggested control measures involving relevant stakeholders for the implementation.
- Able to monitor the implementation, observe the gaps in the existing control measures, review the effectiveness of the implementation and report to the management for appropriate corrective actions and preventive actions
Pre-requisites
Learners are assumed to:
1. Possess ES Workplace Literacy and Numeracy Level 5 or GCE “N” Level English grade 5 & Mathematics grade 5; and
2. Possess WSH skills and knowledge equivalent to that of Certificate in WSH and
3. Have at least 1 year of WSH relevant working experience.
