Course Objectives
This course aims to equip participants with the skills to:
- Effectively communicate sustainability in the tourism and events industry
- Delve into the art of storytelling and learn to craft impactful narratives that resonate with audiences
- Master key messaging for sustainability
- Understand the power of storytelling
- Create communication plans
- Analyzing case studies for practical insights
- Drive positive change, promote and implement sustainable practices
Course Outline
This is a hybrid course. You will be required to do self-paced learning of 1.5 hours prior to attending class. More details will be offered in an email to learners 1 week prior to class.
In-person Class (1 day of 8.5 hours):
Module 1: Marketing Communication Plan
Delve into the intricacies of crafting a comprehensive marketing communication plan and ascertaining marketing communication objectives within allocated budgets and activity schedules. Learners will explore topics such as the role of marketing in achieving organizational goals, the diverse landscape of marketing platforms (paid, owned, and earned), and the significance of storytelling in contemporary marketing strategies.
Module 2: Communicating Sustainability – A Tool for Brand Building and Behavioral Change
Explore the critical role of effective communication in advancing sustainability agendas while simultaneously enhancing brand equity and driving behavioral change. This module will explain the significance of establishing clear objectives, goals, and performance measurements for marketing communication plans. Learners will gain insights into leveraging communication strategies as powerful tools for fostering sustainability, bolstering brand reputation, and driving meaningful behavioral shifts.
Module 3: Customer Profiling and Best Practices for Story Development
Mastering customer profiling involves delving into effective strategies for crafting engaging narratives customized for distinct audience segments. This entails understanding the importance of target segmentation, examining real-life instances of target audiences, and discerning between demographics and psychographics. By the end of the module, participants will acquire the skills needed to identify and understand diverse customer profiles, enabling them to develop impactful storytelling strategies that resonate with their target audience effectively.
Module 4: Applying Knowledge in Creating Your Organization’s Story
This module focuses on the practical application of knowledge acquired throughout the course in designing and implementing effective communication strategies to support Marketing Communication Plans. Through interactive sessions and case studies, participants will explore topics such as developing a comprehensive marketing communications plan, constructing a message house, and understanding the importance of flighting a marketing campaign. By the end of this module, learners will be equipped with the skills necessary to translate theoretical concepts into actionable strategies that drive marketing success for their organizations.
Certificate Obtained and Conferred by
- Upon meeting the attendance and assessment(s) criteria, participants will be awarded with a digital Statement of Attainment (SOA), accredited by SkillsFuture Singapore. SOA will be reflected as [TOU-PRE-4001-1.1-1: Marketing Communications Plan Development L4].
- Upon meeting the attendance and assessment(s) criteria, participants will be awarded with a digital Certificate of Completion from NTUC LearningHub.
- With the completion of two (2) Core modules prescribed by SACEOS, learners will attain the Certified Event Sustainability (CES) accreditation.
- Certificate of completion from NTUC LearningHub
Upon meeting at least 75% attendance and passing the assessment(s), participants will receive a Certificate of Completion from NTUC LearningHub.
