Course Overview

Course Objectives

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Equip participants with skills to identify and select specific areas of sustainable tourism.
  • Understand different themes and messages in sustainable tourism and apply them to travel products and services.
  • Develop key elements in tourism products and services that incorporate sustainability goals and meet customer expectations.
  • Evaluate the appropriateness of themes and messages selected for effective communication.
  • Perform cost-benefit and risk analysis to assess the performance of tourism products and services, and provide feedback for improvement.

The admission requirements are:
Academic Requirement: Minimum one (1) G.C.E. ‘O’ Level
Language Requirement: Minimum G.C.E. ‘O’ Level of D7 in English

Course Outline

  1. Identify and Select Specific Areas of Sustainable Tourism 
    1. Understand Different Themes and Messages in Sustainable Tourism 
    2. Identify Appropriate Themes and Messages for Travel Products and Services 
    3. Select Appropriate Themes and Messages for Travel Products and Services 
    4. Evaluate the Appropriateness of Themes and Messages Selected  
  1. Identify and Develop Key Elements in Tourism Products and Services that can Incorporate Sustainability Goals  
    1. Identify the Key Elements in each Travel Products and Services 
    2. Develop Specifications of these Key Elements which would Meet Customer Expectations 
    3. Ensure that these Key Elements and the Specifications are Attainable 
    4. Develop Action Plans for Implementing these Key Elements  
  1. Evaluate the Performance of Tourism Products and Services using Cost-Benefit and Risk Analysis 
    1. Based on Key Elements and their Specifications, Analyse the Appropriateness of Tour and Travel Products by Prospective Vendors  
  1. Monitor and Analyse Results of the Performance of Tourism Products and Services 
    1. Provide Feedback to Vendors on Areas for Improvement 
    2. Perform Cost-Benefit and Risk Analysis with Sustainability Parameters
    3. Analyse Results and Trends of Products Performances

Certificate Obtained and Conferred by

  • Upon meeting the attendance and assessment(s) criteria, participants will be awarded with a digital Statement of Attainment (SOA), accredited by SkillsFuture Singapore.

  • Upon meeting at least 75% attendance and passing the assessment(s), participants will receive a Certificate of Completion from NTUC LearningHub.

  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • From 1 October 2023, attendance-taking for SkillsFuture Singapore's (SSG) funded courses must be done digitally via the Singpass App. This applies to both physical and synchronous e-learning courses

  • Trainee must pass all prescribed tests / assessments, and attain 100% competency
  • NTUC LearningHub reserves the right to claw back the funded amount from trainee if he/she did not meet the eligibility criteria
  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
