Course Overview
As a people leader, it is inspiring and energising when you help the people around you rise up to their potential and even beyond. Learn how you can equip yourself with the skillsets to harness the potential of people around you. This course will take you through a reflective journey to understand your own developmental plan and motivations before learning the skillsets to develop others through goal setting, coaching, mentoring and provide constructive feedback.
Learn the difference between mentoring and coaching and how you can apply them strategically to motivate and empower team members to achieve better performance.

Course Objectives
Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:
- Review one’s personal development for coaching and development
- Engage team members to empower them to set goals and development plans
- Propose and enable team members to set stretched goals
- Apply motivation and reinforcement concepts to encourage development
- Employ techniques to coach and mentor staff
- Develop skills to aid team members in achieving career plans and goals
- Provide support to team members to encourage continuous improvement
Pre-requisites
The admission requirements are:
- Read, write, and speak English at WPL Level 5
- Have more than 1 years or more of work experience; and
- Have at least 1 years’ experience in a supervisory or managerial role
- Hardware & Software (if applicable)
- This course will be conducted as a Virtual Live Class (VLC) via Zoom platform.
- Participants must own a Zoom account and have a laptop or a desktop with “Zoom Client for Meetings” installed. Download from zoom.us/download.

Course Outline
LU1: Identify Goals Based on Individual Goals and Capabilities
- Review personal development for specific coaching and development interventions
- Discover self-reflection techniques to support coaching and development
- Engage team members and empower them to set goals and development plans
LU2: Generate Individual Stretched Goals for Professional Development
- Propose various types of goals to achieve performance
- Assess and develop team members’ capabilities to achieve stretched goals
- Identify motivation and reinforcement concepts to encourage development of stretched goals
LU3: Conduct Coaching and Mentoring
- Employ suitable techniques to enable individuals to reach stretched goals
- Recognise differences in Coaching and Mentoring and how to use them appropriately
LU4: Develop Career Plans
- Generate career plans in accordance with organisational policies and practices
- Demonstrate skillsets in Coaching and Mentoring to encourage continuous improvement in individuals
- Use powerful questioning and engagement techniques to encourage individuals to reflect for self-improvement
Certificate Obtained and Conferred by
- Upon meeting the attendance and assessment(s) criteria, participants will be awarded with a digital Statement of Attainment (SOA), accredited by SkillsFuture Singapore. SOA will be reflected as Critical Core Skills – Developing People CCS-DVP-I002-1.
- Certificate of completion from NTUC LearningHub
Upon meeting at least 75% attendance and passing the assessment(s), participants will receive a Certificate of Completion from NTUC LearningHub.
